STAIR TAP — PRIVACY POLICY

Effective date: March 4, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Novinity Games ("Novinity", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and stores personal information in connection with the mobile/desktop game Stair Tap (the "Game"). This Policy applies to personal information collected through the Game and related support channels. By installing, accessing or using the Game, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this Policy.

1. Controller and Contact Information

The data controller for personal information collected through the Game is:

Controller: Novinity Games

Primary contact (privacy & support): contact@novinitygames.com

Legal / DMCA: legal@novinitygames.com

No postal/business address is provided on file.

2. Personal Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information in connection with the Game:

  • Account identifiers: Steam identifiers (SteamID) and any username or display name supplied by the platform or user.
  • Support contact information: Email and message contents provided when you submit support requests or correspond with us (support tickets).
  • Device identifiers: Device model, operating system version and other basic device metadata collected automatically by the Game.
  • Third-party platform data: Information provided by third-party platform APIs (for example Steam) necessary to authenticate or operate the Game via those services.

Notes: We do not directly collect payment card information; payments and refunds for Supporter DLC are handled by the platform (Steam/Valve). We do not, at present, collect chat text, crash-reporting data or geolocation unless such features are added in future releases and disclosed separately.

3. How We Collect Personal Information

  • Automatically: The Game automatically collects device identifiers and platform-provided identifiers while the Game is running.
  • From third parties: We obtain account and authentication information from third-party platforms (Steam) when you use platform sign-in or platform features.
  • From you: When you contact support, we collect the information you provide in your support ticket (for example your email address and message content).

4. Purposes and Legal Basis for Processing

We process personal information for the following purposes:

  • Authentication and account management: to verify your identity for platform sign-in and to support functionality that relies on platform accounts.
  • Support and communications: to respond to support tickets and other communications you submit to us.
  • Legal and compliance: to comply with legal obligations, manage disputes, and respond to lawful requests by public authorities.

Under Australian privacy laws and similar regimes, the legal bases for processing include our legitimate interests in operating the Game, performing contractual obligations related to providing access to the Game via platform accounts, and compliance with legal obligations. Where different legal bases are required by local law, we will rely on the lawful basis appropriate to the jurisdiction in question.

5. Recipients and Third-Party Processors

We share personal information only as necessary and subject to appropriate safeguards. The principal recipients of personal information include:

  • Steam / Valve: platform account information and platform-provided identifiers as required to authenticate and operate the Game when distributed via Steam.
  • Zoho Mail: email provider used for support and administrative communications (we share support email content and contact details as necessary to respond to inquiries).

We may disclose personal information to other service providers (for example future analytics or hosting providers) as necessary to provide and improve the Game. Any such processors will be contractually bound to protect the confidentiality and security of the data.

6. Cross‑Border Transfers and International Processing

Personal information may be stored and processed in countries outside Australia where our service providers operate, including countries where Steam and Zoho host their services. Where data is transferred internationally, we will take reasonable steps to ensure the data is afforded appropriate protections consistent with applicable law.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes set out in this Policy, including to: (a) provide the Game; (b) comply with legal obligations; and (c) resolve disputes. As a general rule:

  • Support tickets: retained for 1 year from the date of creation.
  • Account identifiers and platform data: retained while your account remains active or as required by the platform and applicable law.

If you would like us to delete your personal information, contact us using the details in Section 12. We will respond to requests in accordance with applicable law and may retain certain information if required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@novinitygames.com. We may require information to verify your identity before responding to a request. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe as required by law.

If you are located in a jurisdiction that provides additional rights (for example the EU/UK), those rights may also be exercised in accordance with local law — contact us if you need assistance and we will provide applicable guidance.

9. Cookies and Tracking

The Game itself does not rely on browser cookies. Our public website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site and for analytics. If cookies are used on novinitygames.com, they will be covered in a cookie notice on that site. If you wish to opt out of website analytics, please use your browser settings or contact us for assistance.

10. Security

We implement reasonable organisational, technical and administrative measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, loss or alteration. These measures include use of transport encryption (TLS) for data in transit and access controls for internal systems. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to take steps to protect your account credentials.

11. Data Breach Notification

If we become aware of a data breach involving personal information that creates a real risk of serious harm, we will take steps to contain and investigate the incident and will notify affected individuals and regulators as required by applicable law. Notifications will be sent to the contact information we hold for affected users.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will post the revised Policy with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Game after changes are posted will constitute acceptance of the revised Policy.

14. Miscellaneous

This Policy is governed by the laws of Australia. Where local law provides different protections or obligations, we will apply the relevant provisions as required by law. If any provision of this Policy is held invalid, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

By installing, accessing or using the Game you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Policy.
